I discovered the word "pyrrhic" in a blog entry on feminism (and those of you who have complained, please note that I take no liability for where you end up three clicks from that link).
The word means "achieved at excessive cost" or "successful with heavy losses", double edged, damage not justified by gains. And it's odd how rarely feminists temper the popular misperception of "patriarchy = male power" which may be one of the key reasons your average male will not identify as feminist.
Nichi, the blogger referenced above, calls for "a movement which aligns men and women with a common aim of interrogating gender stereotypes".
Why can't that movement simply be feminism, which constantly re-invents itself anyway? And it doesn't have to be women who pull men into the movement, because we already have plenty of feminists out there who are not women.
Let's hear more real-world examples of how patriarchy as a social order damages men!
